Have you ever wondered why you start a plan but can’t follow through? Sometimes it seems easier for other people to accomplish big goals like losing weight, running a marathon or paying off debt. Did they figure out something special?

Most likely they took the time to analyze what makes them tick. Doing self-discovery on what circumstances are best suited for you to be successful can make a big difference in your ability to accomplish a goal.

The problem might not be the size of the goal, but the environment you need to be successful. That doesn’t mean that you won’t have to grow and change to accomplish the goal. Anything that is different takes growth. You must evolve, but not all plans are created equal. Therefor, not all plans work for everyone. The combination of both tools and a deep understanding of what support structures you need will make the difference.

The Quiz

Now there might be a test that can give you some insights on what you need in order to finally accomplish those big goals. Gretchen Rubin wrote a book called The Four Tendencies. The Four Tendencies answers a simple question.

“By asking the one simple question, ‘How do I respond to expectations?’ we gain exciting insight into ourselves. And when we know how other people respond to expectations, we understand them far more effectively, as well.”

The Results

While I haven’t read the book, I did take The Fours Tendencies Quiz. I found it pretty spot on. The results showed I was an Upholder. “Upholders want to know what should be done”. This was a simple statement pulled from a page of details, which explained why I operate well independently. I asked three friends to take the test all with very different personalities and each one got answers that reflected their need for additional information or support to stick to a plan.

Did you take the quiz? What did you think? Are you an Upholder, Resister, Questioner or Obliger?
